Legal behavior serves as a mirror for issues Christians often struggle with. The adoption of laws does not make a person good. Bankruptcy laws eventually offer forgiveness to the debtor, just as God forgives sinners for their indiscretions. Desire, not law, provides the propensity for doing what is right. The IRS uses the most laws and has the least successful compliance rate of any federal agency. Family loyalty is governed by few laws and is successful because of personal desire to advance the welfare of the household.
